The demand for real bat specimens is doing damage...whether people want to admit it or not. Bats are being poached for profit, and they cannot be sourced ethically.

I’m NOT here for that.

These pieces are part of an ongoing side project to create and use alternatives to combat that problem so that we can still make cool, detailed work without contributing to the problem that is plaguing the bat populations.

All bat projects are 100% ethically sourced because theyre not real. These are (besides the beads), 3-d printed replicas gathered from CT scans and other sources and made to be printed as close to realistic as possible. It's a work in progress but the goal is to eventually also offer skulls and full skeletons to be used however the artists want without harming the night time pollinators.

• 3d printed and painted flying fox skull. Gilded teeth. Skull adorned with floral and butterfly stickers then modged podged over to seal.
